The Essential Guide to Treat Your Dog’s Illnesses with Apple Cider Vinegar

Posted on January 27, 2021

Apple Cider Vinegar is one of the easiest things to do with your dog. Not only is it good for the canine body, but it can be used to help in the treatment of a variety of different illnesses and conditions. A friend’s elderly dog has just had a hip operation. To alleviate the pain she ate yogurt and as a result, had lost a few pounds.

She was amazed to see how well the apple cider vinegar helped. She gave it a try too. Within a week, she was back to her old self again. Her vet prescribed her some apple cider vinegar to help with the pain and discomfort from the hip surgery.

Now that the best part of the story is over, we can discuss how to use apple cider vinegar safely. For starters, you need to get the vinegar from a reliable source. Not all sources are trustworthy and your best bet is to pick it up from a local pharmacy.

Make sure you know what kind of vinegar you have. You should be able to find the proper type at your local pharmacy.

You want to store the apple cider vinegar in the refrigerator and not in the freezer. The vinegar is supposed to keep well but will lose its potency after a few hours or days. If you leave it out on the counter, it could begin to become moldy and rotten.

Before you apply any kind of remedy to the animal, you want to make sure you test the temperature of the vinegar. Once you know the right amount to add to the mix, mix it up yourself. Don’t leave it on the counter to start with.

You can mix a small amount of vinegar with some water and put it in the container where the dog’s water dish is located. That way, you have easy access if there is a problem. If it starts to smell, you will know it is time to change out the container and bottle.

Of course, you want to remove the vinegar from the area of the dog’s mouth first. If the dog begins to lick the vinegar off, that is an indication that he/she has an infection.

When the condition is bad enough, you might want to think about putting some clean clothes and towels over the open wounds and over the vinegar. That way, the vinegar cannot seep into the skin and infect the open wound. Try to rinse it off with clean water to clear out the area.

Yeast is one of the most common infections caused by vinegar. The cider vinegar will provide the needed vitamins and minerals to your dog’s body.

Drinking cider vinegar is a great way to clear out some bacteria and infection that may be present in the area. Most areas that have been affected by the canine bacteria may take a couple of weeks to heal. If the infection is not severe, the dog may heal within a day or two.
